The Forgotten Remembrance!

He worked real hard to erase all the memories of Aakash from Anindita as well as his life. Aakash and Anindita had been in this relationship for years and Raghav was dead against his decision of breaking up with her. He had always thought they were so much into each other that sometimes they forgot they there were people who existed around them as well. Being the idealistic that he was, he still believed in the concept of undiluted, untainted love and Aakash & Anindita's relationship came so very close to it. He had felt so empty and heart broken on the day Aakash had finally left Ani.
He never talked to Aakash after that but Anindita still personified that eternal concept of love and that is why he decided to help her piece together her life once again. It has been 3 long years since that fateful day and he had worked so very honestly and diligently to help her move away from everything even remotely associated with Aakash.
He had succeeded as well because it had been close to an year that they had not talked about him. Ani had finally proposed to him 3 months back and here they were getting married today. The elaborate ritualistic ceremonies had been too much of pain and had completely sapped their energies. He could finally make way to his room only at 11:30 PM when everything had been wrapped up. Ani was still not there and he could see her sitting in the drawing room along with some elders of the family who were busy analyzing her jewelry critically. He knew it was still some more time before she would be able to make it to the room. Taking off his shirt he lay down on the bed trying to kill time by reading a novel that he had recently bought. He wasn’t aware when the exertion of last few days got the better of him and he dozed off to a deep slumber.
Raghav awoke at around 3:00 AM startled by a soft sobbing sound. He fumbled for Ani on his bedside but she was not there. He quickly put on his shirt and started looking for her, all the time cursing himself for not having the decency to stay awake till she came in. He found her sitting in the balcony and walked up to her. Ani had a vacant look in her eyes and for a moment it almost seemed as if she was totally oblivious of his existence there and was looking through him and onto the horizon. But the sang-froid, it seemed, was just momentary and Raghav’s touching her forehead and her breaking down into tears happened almost simultaneously as if one was triggered by the other.
The only words that she could mumble in midst of her hysterical crying were “You also have a mole on your chest!”

mohabbat ne ye accha sila diya. har cheez me tere aks' se mila diya. teri yaadon me kat gayi ye umar. Aur ye kehti rahi ki tujhe bhula diya...

Beautiful!! A story very well conceived and of course marvellously put in words.
