Dialer Tone

"Dil se dil tak baat pahunchi"-the dialer tone she had got so used to, rang like a cacophonous laughter".  He cleared his throat before picking up the phone, happy that he won yet another ego battle!! Her voice was dim and sober. “I have told mom”, was all that she could mumble. He wasn’t ready for this,yet just said “What now?” “We would not talk anymore. That probably, is the best way forward for us”. He could hear her sobbing silently. Tears welled up in his eyes, how he can let her go. How can he erase 7 years of memories? He knew he would be able to work this out again but said “We will talk tomorrow”. She cut the phone. He knew it would all be right tomorrow when as usual she would wake him up in the morning. It was 9’O clock when the call came. The lady at the other end reminded him about his outstanding phone bill. He cut the phone saying he will be doing it today.
